What Does Self-Love Mean to You?

Dear One,
Self-love is a deeply personal journey, unique to each individual. So, let me ask you—what does it mean to you?
For me, self-love is about coming home. It’s that profound feeling of being at peace within, a reconnection with my true essence.
As they say, "home isn’t a place; it’s a feeling." But finding that inner sanctuary isn’t always easy.
We grow up surrounded by expectations—those of our caregivers, society, and family. We’re handed checklists on how to behave, what to do, who to be. Add in the programs and conditioning from our culture and religion, not to mention the subtle, unspoken messages we absorb from others along the way.
These experiences layer over our true selves, making it hard to see the home within. But it’s there. It just takes time and patience to peel back those layers.
The journey back to ourselves often begins with an intense wake-up call—a moment so powerful that it forces us to look inward. Life transitions like losing a parent, the end of a close friendship, moving to a new country, or going through a divorce can be catalysts. They can either lead us down a path of self-liberation or into deeper suffering. The choice is ours.
After my second divorce, I chose to go inward. I was tired of repeating the same old patterns, living out the same beliefs, and exhibiting the same behaviors. If I was the common denominator in these situations, then it was up to me to make a change.
I made the decision to prioritize myself for the first time in my life. As women, we wear so many hats—daughter, mother, wife—that we often lose ourselves in the process. I was lost.
I didn’t know who I was anymore, what I wanted, or who I wanted to become. My vision for the future was unclear.
So, I took it one day at a time, one self-care moment at a time. Slowly, I began to rediscover who I was. I nurtured myself so deeply that I learned to love myself, until eventually, I became my own best friend.
These practices, along with healing my deepest wounds, brought me back to my essence. Now, I live in peace, freedom, authenticity, and self-love.
This is what I want for other women who are struggling with grief, frustration, sadness, or loneliness. My mission is to be a beacon of light, guiding them back to their essence so they can shine brightly once more and feel that energy love that comes from within.
Love & Light,
