WHO AM I?
I am a storyteller as a way of connecting with you. My stories thread the themes of strength, resilience, grace, gratitude, radiance, and hope. ( See my TEDx , read my stories, or listen to my weekly podcast)
In 2013, after the death of my father and a sudden end to a 15 year marriage, I was presented with several gifts to heal past wounds from my challenging & traumatic childhood. Through inner work of self-exploration and self-love, I stepped on the path of bringing these stories into the light. My intention is to inspire you with the over arching message that from our own shadows, we can embody our radiance and create the life we want and more importantly, the life we feel we deserve.
I am a student and dancer as a way of understanding our world. My experience comes from a strong movement background. I danced before I walked (in my jolly jumper). Dance was my way of making sense of my world when chaos surrounded me. As a young adult, I received a BFA in Modern Dance from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where I studied technique, anatomy, kinesiology, and pedagogy. As a professional modern/contemporary dancer/choreographer in New York City, my studies continued and I earned a Pilates certification from the Kane School of Core Integration, 500 hour Certification (ERYT500, YACEP) under the guidance of my mentor, Jeanmarie Paolillo from YogaWorks and Restorative/Therapeutics with Jillian Pransky. I studied trauma informed therapies from Veteran’s Yoga Project, Exhale to Inhale, Embodied Philosophies courses with Dr. Albert Wong, Dr. Isa Gucciardi, and my own personal studies and experiences.
I am a teacher and guide as a way of serving our world. I have been a teacher since I stepped into the studios of the Pennsylvania Ballet in 1998, as a teacher of modern dance (Graham & Horton) for the ballet program. I taught dance, Pilates, yoga, and other movement techniques at various studios/programs in New York City since 2002. In 2014, I founded nOMad always at OM. My mission through nOMad is to hold safe spaces and offer healthy resources to empower you so you can live a fuller life with more joy, gratitude, confidence, and connection. I am proud to have co-founded, TRIBE military yoga with 3 of my 500 hr YTT graduates in 2018, while teaching yoga teacher training to cadets & veterans at West Point.
I was gifted the co-creation of the movement practice, Mvt109™ which is partly named after the 109th bead, the guru bead on the mala for japa meditation to pay reverence to our teachers of life. And so here, in reverence to some of my teachers; Jeanmarie Paolillo, Jillian Pransky, Paula Lynch, Elizabeth Andes-Bell, Linda Farrell, Milton Myers, Bill T Jones, Tao Porchon Lynch, my mom, my dad, and my gramma, my students, and all of those who I have crossed paths with as “we walk each other home.” (Ram Das)
